Cops arrest 6, seize firearm and drugs in Northern Division

Officers of the Northern Division have arrested six persons and seized a firearm and drugs on Friday 10th May, 2024.

A drug eradication exercise was conducted between the hours of 11:00am and 3:00pm on Friday 10th May, 2024 with special attention paid to Subero Street, Malabar, Ackbarali Street West, Malabar, Queen Street, Arima (Drag Mall) and Hollis Avenue and Queen Street, Arima.

During the exercise, officers arrested a 27-year-old man of Arima, for the offence of Possession of Prohibited Article (Camouflage), A 42-year-old man of Malabar, for the offence of Possession of marijuana for the Purpose of Trafficking (1030 grams). A 23-year-old and 32-year-old men all of Malabar, for the offence Possession of Marijuana and a 30-year-old man of Arima, for using Obscene Language.

The party of officers, then proceeded to a bushy area off Malabar Trainline and conducted a search of the area. There, they found tucked under a tree stump, one black plastic bag with one .22 Magnum Revolver together with a transparent ziplock bag containing 89 grams of marijuana.

The illegal items were secured and taken as well as the suspects to the Arima Police Station.
Investigations are ongoing.
