Assistant Commissioner of Police, Irwin Hackshaw has been suspended with immediate effect.
This comes after the Police Complaints Authority (PCA) finished its final report on its investigation into Hackshaw and sent the report to the Office of the Director of Prosecutions and the Police Commissioner.
In a media release earlier today, Commissioner Gary Griffith said that prior to today, the PCA made suggestions on disciplinary action based on an initial report into allegations of usual financial transactions.
However, he says now that a recommendation that “a criminal offence may have been committed”, Mr Hackshaw can be suspended.
Mr Griffith says the TTPS is having consultations with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and is awaiting further advice.
