Cop in custody after breaking into Carenage supermarket

A policeman, dressed in his uniform, broke into a Chinese supermarket in Carenage on Wednesday and stole $10,000 in cash and the DVR.

The incident happened along the Western Main Road in Carenage.

PC Wayne Pierre has been taken into custody by his colleagues at the Carenage Police Station after CCTV footage showed him breaking into the supermarket using a grinder.

Pierre has approximately eight years of service and was last assigned to the Emergency Response Patrol Unit.

After the break-in was discovered, the police were notified and the owners, to their surprise, while reviewing the backed-up video, recognized Pierre as the suspect.
Investigations are continuing into the incident.

Reports state that Pierre made extra money working at the Supermarket so he was aware of its weaknesses, where the DVR was located, and the cash.
