CoP Harewood-Christopher pledges TTPS commitment ahead of Carnival

Commissioner of Police Erla Harewood-Christopher visited the Tunapuna community on Wednesday to observe anti-gang and anti-crime measures that were implemented to reduce serious crimes.

The Commissioner was joined by Minister of National Security, Fitzgerald Hinds, Member of Parliament for Tunapuna, Esmond Forde, Assistant Commissioner of Police, North East, Wayne Mystar, Senior Superintendent, North Central, Brian Ramphal, representatives of the Greater Tunapuna Chamber of Industry and Commerce, other police officers and members of the station council of the Tunapuna Police Station.

The team toured the heart of Tunapuna, canvassing the commercial and retail hub of the Tunapuna Market as well.

Minister Hinds and Commissioner Harewood-Christopher also interacted with citizens who expressed their concerns, offered suggestions and gave appreciation for law enforcement efforts in dealing with serious crimes in the area.

The CoP pledged the Police Service’s commitment ahead of the mecca of Carnival in the district and that all available resources and manpower will be provided to reduce the fear of crime, as well as tackle the prevailing gang culture and activities in the policing district.

This forms part of the TTPS’ thrust of supporting communities through key partnerships, enhanced visibility and professional policing.
