CoP appeals to female masqueraders: “Please don’t wine on my officers”

Police Commissioner Erla Harewood-Christopher has issued an appeal to female masqueraders to resist wining on police officers as they participate in the festivities.

Speaking at during the TTPS news conference on Thursday, she said: “It is disrespectful and un-welcomed.”

Harewood-Christopher said: “I would want to ask our masqueraders, particularly our scantily dressed ladies, to desist from dancing, wining, and gyrating on my officers. It is disrespectful and unwelcome.”

According to the new top cop, the behaviour is not befitting the professional organisation she leads.

When asked by members of the media what would happen if an officer consented to the gyrating, Harewood-Christopher said: “I believe I lead a professional organisation and I doubt very much (its members) will consent or even return a wine.”

The Carnival regulations say: “A person shall not, sing or recite any lewd or offensive song; or indulge in behaviour or gestures which are immoral, lewd or offensive.”

She pledged to provide improved policing services to T&T.
