Acting Commissioner of Police Erla Christopher is giving the assurance to the public all necessary measures have been put in place to ensure the safety and security of visitors to the Divali Nagar site, located at Narsaloo Ramaya Road, Endeavour, Chaguanas.
According to the Acting CoP, “The highly anticipated event is expected to attract thousands of visitors from throughout the country, and as such officers of the Central Division have made the necessary security and traffic arrangements to ensure the successful hosting of the event.”
The nine-day celebration began without incident Saturday and continues until Sunday 23rd October.
An estimated 3000 persons were in attendance Saturday evening and the numbers are expected to increase in the lead up to the Divali holiday celebrations.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service is ready to deal with any incidents that may arise from hosting large crowds at such an event.
The celebration commences daily from 4pm to midnight and on the last day is expected to run until 1am.
