Concerns Raised About Status Of Collective Agreement Between SWWTU And Port Authority.

A collective bargaining agreement which was signed in 2015 between the Port Authority and the Seamen and Waterfront Workers Trade Union did not conform to the procedures as laid down by the Chief Personnel Officer.

On Friday the Standing Finance Committee was informed of this development by Minister of Works and Transport, Rohan Sinanan.

Minister Sinanan was at the time responding to a question posed to him on the subject by Opposition Member of Parliament for Couva South, Rudy Indarsingh.

MP Indarsingh wanted to know whether the last agreement signed between the SWWTU and the Port Authority was it fully implemented.

In response Minister Sinanan said legal guidance has been sourced on this matter.

However, MP Indarsingh was not impressed with the response given and raised concerns about the status of the agreement.
