SHAMEELA NANAN, 40, Director of Edifice Construction and Engineering Services, located at Beard Street, Maraval, was charged with fraud.
She was granted bail in the sum of fifty thousand dollars Monday and will appear virtually at the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court on September 5th, 2021.
On August 15th, 2020, NANAN reportedly went to a hardware in the Beetham area where she purchased a quantity of items which cost eleven thousand, seven hundred and forty-five dollars an sixty-fie centers.
She allegedly paid for the items via cheque.
However, when the hardware employees attempted to cash the cheque on August 19th, 2020, they were informed there were insufficient funds in the account where Nanan worked.
Enquiries were conducted under the supervision of Senior Superintendent Arlet Groome and Legal Officer Acting Sergeant Bassarath.
As a result, Nanan was charged for the offence of fraud on Monday.
