Colombian and 21 Venezuelans detained in Carenage during police exercise

One Colombian and 20 Venezuelans were detained this morning at Smith Hill, Carenage.

According to a TTPS report the arrests took place during an exercise in the Western Division between the hours of 3 am and 7 am.

The report also states the exercise resulted in 21 men, suspected to be illegal immigrants being arrested for breach of the immigration laws.

The exercise was coordinated by ACP Wendell Williams, Central Intelligence Bureau, Snr Supt Thompson and Supt Smith.

It was supervised by Insp Bruno, Sgts Adams and Austin.

It also included officers from the Western Division, Guard and Emergency Branch (GEB), Canine Unit, Transport and Telecommunications Branch and the Western Division Gang Unit.
Investigations are ongoing.
