COI Probing Divers’ Death To Commence Public Hearings On September 7th

September 7th is the date set for the start of the public hearings into the circumstances surrounding the death of four divers from LMCS Limited while carrying out maintenance work at Paria Fuel Trading Company Ltd in February.

Chairman of the Commission of Inquiry set up to probe the matter, Jerome Lynch, Queen’s Counsel made the revelation during a news briefing held this afternoon.

Mr Lynch said the Commission was hoping to start its work in August but unfortunately it is now scheduled to begin hearings at 10:30am on Wednesday, September 7th.

Mr Lynch said the Commission is determined to get the facts on the incident.

Chairman Lynch assured the Commission will be fair and transparent in carry out its duties.

Meanwhile, Lead Counsel for the Commission, Ramesh Lawrence Maharaj, provided details into the terms of the Commission of Inquiry.

Mr Maharaj said the Commission will publish public notices inviting persons who have relevant evidence to submit statements and documents.
