Some people in Kelly Village and St Helena are now stranded in their homes due to flood waters.
A request has already been made to the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard for their intervention to help those affected as quickly as possible.
This was disclosed by Senior Disaster Management Coordinator at the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management, Jerry David.
Mr David provided the details while speaking at a news briefing held by the Ministry of Works and Transport Thursday afternoon.
A Riverine Flood Alert issued by the Meteorological Service at 12:05 pm Wednesday is scheduled to come to an end at six this evening.
