While the Omicron continues to be the dominant variant in Trinidad there is still the presence of the Delta.
This is according to the Chief Medical Officer Dr Roshan Parasram.
He made the comment while speaking at the Ministry of Health’s Covid Media Update this morning.
He said that while the majority of the cases reported in Trinidad is the Omicron, there was a recent report of someone testing for the Delta Variant.
The CMO also informed that the Omicron Ba5 Variant which is now present in Trinidad was detected in over 40% of samples last week.

He said the Ba4 and Ba5 Variants which have been found in numerous countries worldwide and also present in T&T have shown increasing trends globally.

Dr Parasram said that the WHO has categorised a number of sub variants for monitoring.
