Clive Davis claims Whitney Houston tried to quit drugs before her death

Clive Davis recently spoke about the loss of Whitney Houston and revealed that she made a strong effort to quit drugs.

While speaking to Page Six, Davis said, “I was with her 48 hours before her death.” He said, “It never occurred to me” that Houston would pass away days later.

Davis talked about what Houston showed him from her journey: “She was showing me what she had done in rehab.

How she had given up smoking. She had cleared her throat of nicotine. And she was wanting to start going in the studio. I never would have thought 48 hours before her death that she would pass, that there would be that horrendous, premature end to her life.”

From there, Davis spoke about Houston striving towards a new space in life free of the vices that haunted her.

“She was making a valiant attempt during that period to give up drugs and rehabilitate herself,” said Davis. Houston passed away on February 11, 2012.
