Investigations are underway into a home invasion, which took place at the Petit Valley home of the owners of a popular Chinese restaurant.
The family who runs the Me-Asia restaurant along Ariapita Avenue, Woodbrook, were robbed, beaten and one of them stabbed on Tuesday by armed men who demanded cash and valuables.
Reports state that the 59-year-old businesswoman, along with a 37-year-old male relative, were both asleep at their home in Petit Valley, when they were awakened around 3 am.
The two victims found five masked men who were armed with a knife and a gun inside the house, after they gained entry via a sliding door on the second floor.
During a struggle with the bandits, the man was reportedly stabbed once in the right thigh, while the woman was beaten and thrown against a safe, causing injury to the left side of her face.
The two were tied up by the bandits, who then ransacked the house and took TT$55,000 in cash, an iPhone valued at RNB$6,000; a DVR valued at TT$3,000, and other items.
The men then escaped.
The injured man was treated at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital and discharged.
