Chinese Embassy makes generous donation to COVID relief in Chaguanas

Chaguanas Mayor, Faaiq Mohammed has expressed gratitude to the Government of the People’s Republic of China and Chinese Ambassador, His Excellency Fang Qiu, for their most generous donation of 150 food hampers to the Burgesses of Chaguanas.

Mohammed said, “Ambassador Fang Qiu has consistently shown his commitment to strengthening the diplomatic relations between China and Trinidad and Tobago and the friendship between our people.”

He added, “Thousands of our Burgesses of Chaguanas have been adversely affected as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and we have been actively engaged in outreach efforts. His Excellency’s kindness to the Burgesses of Chaguanas is undoubtedly well received and greatly appreciated.”

Mohammed said he is certain that these food hampers will ease the burden of these families as they navigate through this difficult period.

“It would be remiss of me to not make mention of the fact that the Chinese Embassy was the first to respond to the request of the CBC as we have been reaching out to various organizations for assistance. I look forward to continue working with this Embassy in the future and hope to further collaborate on initiatives that geared towards the promotion of trade, commerce and culture,” added Mohammed.
