China to ban residents from leaving Wuhan city

According to a Chinese news bulletin, all passenger of the city has been temporarily suspended. That means that the city’s 11 million residents, hundreds of whom have fallen ill and at least nine of whom have died from the viral outbreak, are trapped unless they receive special permission to leave.

The virus quickly spread to nearby Japan, Thailand, and South Korea, and a traveler from Wuhan also carried it to the U.S.

According to The Guardian UK buses, subway, ferry and long-distance passenger transportation networks from the city will be suspended from 10am local time on Thursday, state media reported.

The city’s airport and train stations will also be closed to outgoing passengers.

The government is also asking citizens not to leave the city of 11 million unless there are special circumstances, state media said.
