The children of murdered fisherman Anand Rampersad will begin the school term today with new school supplies.
Vidya Ramachala, Secretary of Arya Pratinidhi Sabha, delivered food, books and other supplies to the children ahead of the new school term. The organization has supported the family since they lost the patriarch and sole provider the deadly piracy attack at sea in June. Other organizations have also provided counseling for the family in the wake of Rampersad’s death.
MP Couva North Ramona Ramdial had issued a call to her constituents to offer assistance to the families of the slain fishermen. Ramdial has also reportedly applied for school grants and food cards for all the families.
