A nine year old girl is reported to have died in a house fire which at Beetham Gardens on Wednesday.
Reports indicate that a single-storey structure at Sixth Street, Second Avenue was well alight when fire officers when firefighters from the Wrightson Road headquarters responded to the blaze at around 1:50pm
As the officers battled the blaze, they were alerted by residents that a child “with mental issues” was missing. Her body was later discovered in a bedroom.
The house was said to be occupied by five people, however, it is unclear how many were at home when the fire broke out.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
