Champs Fleurs man fined for stealing car batteries

DYLAN ROBERTS, 30 years old, of #31 Mt. D’or Road Champs Fleurs, has been fined $2500 or four months hard labour, when
he appeared before a magistrate virtually today Tuesday 15th June, 2021 to answer to a charge of larceny.

Around 1:30pm on Monday 14th June, 2021 an off duty coast guard officer observed a man of African descent lurking around
a garage located at #128 Basdeo Avenue, Bejucal Road Cunupia.

He later observed the man removing two car batteries together valued at twenty four hundred dollars, from the compound which he placed a short distance away from a silver Nissan AD wagon.

The off duty officer approached the man, informed him of his observations and effected a citizen’s arrest. PC Bennette and
PC Serries responded to the report and met with the witness, and victim.

The owner of the garage stated that he did not give the man permission to the items.

The officers subsequently, detained DYLAN ROBERTS and took possession of the batteries.

He was conveyed to the Cunupia Police Station; where he was charged for the offence of larceny by PC Bennette.
