Chamber CEO calls on business community to increase their vigilance with COVID spike

TT Chamber CEO Gabriel Faria is appealing to the wider business community and the public at large, “to increase their vigilance,” as it pertains to the increased cases of Covid19.

On the heels of government’s announcement of additional regulations, including public servants reverting to a 50% attendance on a rotational basis, Faria said the Chamber recognised the need for these additional measures.

He acknowledged that many private-sector organisations have already implemented the required safety measures to keep their staff and customers safe.
He said everyone has a role to play in saving lives and livelihoods.

However, Faria expressed hope that the government would reconsider providing financial support to the businesses which have been affected, with many of them closed for over a year and many others operating under restrictions.

In light of the presence of the Brazilian Covid19 variant in TT, Faria was very concerned and told media that he hoped the relevant authorities are closely monitoring this.
