Chaguanas woman charged with common-law husband’s murder

A 43-year-old woman has appeared before a Chaguanas Magistrate, charged with the murder of her common-law husband, Likhram Primlal, which occurred on Friday 30th December, 2022.

JUDITH LAKHAN, of Enterprise, Chaguanas, was charged with the offence when she appeared before Magistrate Adrian Darmanie on Friday 6th January, 2023.

The matter was adjourned to February 3rd 2023.

Primlal, 49, of Chaguanas, allegedly got into an argument with a woman who lives at the same address on December 30th, 2022. He reportedly left the premises and returned some time later, when he was allegedly stabbed by the woman with a knife. He was taken to hospital for treatment where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect was subsequently detained by officers of the Chaguanas Police Station.

Investigations were supervised by Supt. Dhillpaul, ASP Persad and Insp. Hosein, all of Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region Three.

Lakhan was charged with the offence by Cpl (Ag.) Griffith, also of HBI Region Three, on Thursday 5th January, 2023 following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Joan Honore-Paul, on that same date.
