Chaguanas West MP blames Rowley and Hinds for T&T’s 602 murder rate

“For the past seven years, Dr Rowley has sat back and watched as violent crime got exponentially worse year by year and did absolutely nothing.”

A bold statement made by Chaguanas West MP, Dinesh Rambally, via media release issued on Boxing Day.

Rambally claims citizens had the worst Christmas gift in history as the country reached 602 murders.

He said,”citizens received the worst Christmas gift imaginable from this Rowley-led regime; news of untold murder and mayhem on Christmas Day. According to one online news report from the ‘DJ Sheriff’ news site, the murder toll now stands at 602 murders.”

“Never before in our history has such a reign of terror swept across our republic. And never before has there been such a reckless, callous and irresponsible Prime Minister as Dr Keith Rowley.

Now things have gotten so bad Rowley is asking the nation to pray for T&T. If the number of murders increases next year, as analysts indicate, it surely will, will Dr Rowley blame citizens for not praying enough? Or will he blame God? Or will he as
always lazily blame the Leader of the Opposition for his own failings?

As someone who believes in the power of prayer myself, I would like to remind Dr Rowley that God helps those who help themselves. For Dr Rowley to act as if violent crime is so uncontrollable and now requires divine intervention is an admission that he and his government are failures.”

Rambally did however confess to crime being a complex social problem, he insisted that governments are elected to craft policies to address those solutions.

“However the only policies which this government have adopted is victim shaming (such as blaming children who are killed in playgrounds for being in the wrong place wrong time) and public stunts ( such as having Hinds riding a horse) over real policymaking,” said Rambally.

Rambally went on to blame the Prime Minister for his “role in the now failed and disastrous attempt to appoint a substantive Commissioner of Police.”

“The Prime Minister’s insistence that the odious Fitzgerald Hinds remain in his position despite Hinds’s own admission that “70%” of the population does not want him as Minister of National Security is further proof that Dr Rowley simply does not care how much more innocent blood gets spilt or how many citizens are terrorised under his watch as head of the National Security Council.”
