Chaguanas Market reopens today

After being shut down for sanitisation this past weekend due to a vendor testing positive for COVID19, vendors and shoppers at the Chaguanas Market will be happy to note that the facility will reopen today.

Chaguanas Mayor Faaiq Mohammed made the announcement yesterday after he received the go-ahead from the Ministry of Health to reopen the facility.

This follows a proper sanitisation exercise at the market and contact tracing of all affected persons.

In light of the recent shutdown due to the COVID scare, the Chaguanas Borough Corporation is expected to meet on Thursday to determine whether new protocols should be initiated at the market facility.

Mayor Mohammed said one of the options will be to consider whether customers should be allowed to shop in groups rather than have the facility opened to an unlimited number of shoppers at any given time.
