Chaguanas Health Facility expands in light of COVID-19 patient surge

NCRHA expands the Chaguanas District Health Facility to accommodate COVID-19 patient surge.

The Chief Executive Officer (NCRHA) announced a three hundred percent (300%) increase in spatial capacity at the Chaguanas District Health Facility.

This was achieved in nine hours in a collaborative effort between the management and technical staff of the NCRHA, the Ministry of Works and Transport, the TTPS, with the assistance of Mr. Geoffrey Wharton- Lake’s large events infrastructural expertise.

This involved the closing of the street (Galt Street) upon which the Chaguanas District Health Facility is located.

Less than 24 hours after the management team of the North Central Regional Health Authority met to adopt new systems and rethink frameworks to manage the increasing wave of patients requiring COVID- 19 testing and the accommodation of COVID-19 suspected and positive cases, the NCRHA completed another of its objectives at the Chaguanas Facility overnight.

CEO Mr. Thomas asserted that the NCRHA staff would continue to defend its high standards in the delivery of healthcare service and maintain its commitment to restoring and ensuring that all facilities remain safe environments for members of the public and members of staff.
