Plans are being worked on to improve conditions at the Chaguanas Market.
This as the Chaguanas Chamber of Industry and Commerce (CCIC) has joined forces with the Chaguanas Borough Corporation to undertake the endeavour.
CCIC president Richie Sookhai said they decided on the initiative after the market was closed last Saturday because a vendor had tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.
He revealed the information on Saturday while he and other chamber members distributed masks and sanitisers to vendors at the market.
After hearing complaints from the market vendors as well, Sookhai said the CCIC would also start lobbying for basic amenities for the vendors.
