Chaguanas business owners forced to hire private security

Chaguanas business owners are under siege and have been forced to hire private security to deal with the escalating crime problem.

President of the Chaguanas Business Chamber, Richie Sookhai told News Power Now that businesses are no longer relying on the police and are now hiring private security instead.

Mr Sookhai’s comment came as he lamented the lack of police foot patrols in the borough in the height of the Christmas shopping season.

He confirmed that the measures taken to counter this issue include hiring security firms with their own tactical response units.
