Cerron Richards says Prison system not on list of priorities in terms of spending

Head of the Prison Officers’ Association Ceron Richards says that the prison system seems to be low on the list of priorities in terms of spending.

He is this is cause for great concern since it is arguably the highest security risk environment in the country.

He argued that based on this the system must be performing optimally to ensure the management and security of those it houses.

He told the hosts of Power 102 Digital’s Power Breakfast Shop this morning this may be because it is not a revenue earner or because it houses those who have been charged with or convicted of crimes against the population and so the powers that be feel no real need to put spend into the prison system.
