CEPEP kick-starts vaccination drive for employees

The CEPEP Company Limited commenced its COVID-19 vaccination programme for staff, contractors and their workers this weekend. The Company was allocated 5,000 Sinopharm vaccines from the Ministry of Health courtesy the Minister of Rural Development and Local Government, Kazim Hosein and the Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh.

Approximately 2,000 workers will receive their first dose of the Sinopharm vaccine at dedicated vaccination centres set up throughout the country. The company has been working closely with health officials attached to the Eastern Regional Health Authority (ERHA), North-West Regional Health Authority (NWRHA), North-Central Health Authority (NCRHA) and the South-West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA) to ensure a smooth and comfortable process for all workers.

Minister Hosein was present at the Paddock area, Queen’s Park Savannah to observe the process and reiterated the Government’s aim to offer vaccines to the population when he said, “Through the efforts of the Ministry, we have vaccinated Local Government employees and Municipal Police Officers. CEPEP workers will also be protected. These workers are among the most vulnerable in the country as they are out on the field performing their duties every day and therefore more susceptible to infection”.

Chief Executive Officer, Keith Eddy echoed the sentiments of Minister Hosein when he stated that, “Our main priority at this time is protecting the health and wellbeing of our contractors and their workers. When this exercise is complete, we will assess whether or not we are ready to recommence our field operations. The CEPEP Company supports the call for organisations to vaccinate to operate and we continue to encourage persons to take advantage of this opportunity to receive the vaccines.”
