Central Police hold 2 thieves following high speed chase

Police captured two Larceny suspects following a high-speed chase in the Central Division.

At approximately 3:45 am on 31st August 2024, police received a report of a Breaking and Entering at a Preysal supermarket, where four male suspects were observed in a Silver Nissan Almera.

Upon arrival at the scene, WPC Elliot and PC Gomes observed the men fleeing at a high speed, proceeding to the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway. A chase ensued and several units responded, including Central Division Task Force, Area North and South, Highway Patrol, Freeport Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Chaguanas CID and mobile patrol.

The vehicle was successfully intercepted at Busy Corner, Chaguanas, causing all four occupants to exit the vehicle and flee on foot. Two of the suspects were caught, a 23-year-old from Melrose Place, Arima and a 26-year-old from Demerara Road, Arima.

The vehicle was searched and officers found a large, black, plastic container filled with several bottles of various alcoholic beverages, several brands of cigarettes bearing price tags from the above-mentioned supermarket, a bolt cutter, a pick axe and two vehicle registration plates.

The items were confiscated and PC Dado of the Crime Scene Investigations Unit processed the scene and WPC Elliott is continuing enquiries.
