Cedar Hill Road repair works begins; contractor aiming to complete in 4 days

Work has started on a major landslip along Cedar Hill Road in Claxton Bay.

What started off as a minor crack near the Forres Park landfill grew into a nightmare for residents as the road caved in due to consistent rainfall.

Rishi Baldeosingh of R Baldeosingh Services Ltd, has been awarded the project and assured that soon the road would be repaired and restored to two lanes.

He said, “We have been contracted to execute this emergency retaining wall which consists of some steel sheets and steel piles. Due to the past rainfall the road eroded. We tendered and were the successful bidder. It was awarded two days ago so they asked us to start ASAP which we start last night, actually. We should finish in the next two days. It will be the restoration of the road with asphalt and everything.”

He said the project was supposed to take seven to eight days to complete but they were trying to do it in four days.
