Catholic priest arrested for sharing child porn over the church’s internet

A Catholic priest was arrested on child pornography charges in Rhode Island after police executed a search warrant at the church.

James Jackson, 66, was charged with the possession and transfer of child pornography on Saturday.

He is being held on a $5,000 bail.

According the New York Post, police reports a search warrant was executed after investigators determined the internet at  St. Mary’s church was used to share child porn.
Jackson was identified as the person sharing the images.

In a statement, the Diocese of Providence said Jackson was removed as the church’s pastor effective immediately. He is prohibited from performing his priestly duties.

“Father Jackson was identified as the owner of digital media allegedly involved in the possession and transfer of child pornography and child erotica,” the department said in a statement.
