Following the Met Office’s notice that its Riverine Flood Alert has been upgraded to Orange Level, there is confirmation that the Caroni River has breached its banks and other rivers are at capacity.
The Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government issued the following statement via its Facebook page this morning.
Continued inclement weather has resulted in elevated riverine levels.
Please be advised that the Caroni River has breached its banks and will affect some communities.
We urge the public to take caution. At this time, there will be slower water runoff.
Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service has issued Riverine Flood Alert #2- Orange Level as of Thursday 6th October 2022 at 6:55am

Affected communities are urged to call relevant Disaster Management Units.
