CARICOM Sec. General Urges Regional Leaders To Inact Positive Change

Regional leaders are being urged to make decisions which will positively impact on the people in areas such as climate change, food security, Haiti and its economic and social challenges and ensuring safe communities for all.

Secretary General of Caricom, Dr Carla Barnett, speaking at the official opening ceremony of the 44th Meeting of the Heads of Government on Wednesday evening, said many regional economies are rebounding from the effects of covid-19, the impact of the war in Ukraine, high inflation and rising shipping cost.

Dr Barnett said the meeting provides an ideal opportunity to come up with decisions which will bring about positive and meaningful changes to the region and its people.

2023 marks significant milestones for both The Bahamas and CARICOM as our nation and the entity will celebrate 50th anniversaries.
