Carenage Police Youth Club and Homework Centre receive Ideahub Board and tablet computers

Students of the Carenage Police Youth Club and Homework Centre received a donation of an Ideahub Board and fifty tablet computers on Friday 10th November, 2023.

The equipment was made available by the technology company Huawei.

Speaking at the donation ceremony, Prime Minister and Member of Parliament for Diego Martin West, Dr Keith Rowley expressed his gratitude to Huawei for their generous donation and urged the community of Carenage and its environs to embrace this technological opportunity, underscoring its benefits for the youth and the wider national community.

Prime Minister Rowley emphasised that the introduction to this technology “makes us a part of a fast-moving highly interconnective world,” and that the Government will continue to allocate resources to ensure connectivity across Trinidad and Tobago.

Minister of Sport and Community Development, the Hon. Shamfa Cudjoe-Lewis also joined Prime Minister Rowley at the event.

This donation is not only expected to enrich the youths of the Carenage Police Youth Club, but also to foster a positive impact that resonates across the wider community. It’s positioned to enhance the capabilities of educators at the center, enabling them to offer improved programmes to the youth and other community members.

The Ministry of Sport and Community Development recognizes that access to technology and educational resources is a crucial step toward self-improvement and empowerment. It is in this context that the Ministry cherishes ongoing collaborations, and together, the common goal of bridging the digital divide and providing life-changing opportunities for the citizens of our country can be achieved.
