Musicians are sending their thoughts and prayers to the people of Haiti after a powerful earthquake struck the Caribbean country on Saturday (Aug. 14).
Artists like Cardi B, Don Omar, Steven Van Zandt and more reacted on social media to the 7.2 magnitude quake, which struck off Haiti’s coast about 7.5 miles northeast of Saint-Louis-du-Sud.
Officials in Haiti have confirmed at least 1,297 people are dead after a powerful 7.2-magnitude earthquake hit the Caribbean nation on Saturday.
Rescuers are picking through rubble in a desperate search for any survivors.
Homes, churches and schools were among buildings flattened in the quake. Some hospitals were left overwhelmed and in need of supplies.
An unknown number of people are missing and about 5,700 have been injured, officials say.
“I got a soft spot for Haiti and it’s people. They my cousins,” Cardi tweeted on Saturday. “I pray for Haiti they go thru soo much. God please cover that land and it’s people.”
