Carapichaima bank worker drowns at Tyrico

Narindra Persad, a 28-year-old Scotiabank employee drowned at Tyrico Bay on Friday.

Persad, of Brickfield Village, Waterloo Road, Carapichima, was at the beach around 2pm yesterday with a 30-year-old male friend, when they both got into difficulties.

The two men were pulled from the water by lifeguards, but Persad was unconscious.

When the lifeguards tried to resuscitate Persad they were unsuccessful.

The other man was said to be okay but had to undergo treatment at hospital.

Persad worked at Scotiabank’s Chagauanas branch.
