“Calypsonians have been the chroniclers of time.”
So says calypso historian, Professor Patrick Watson who made the comment as part of Power 102 FM’s Calypso History Month celebrations.
October 2020 makes it 18 years that Trinidad and Tobago is celebrating Calypso History Month.
The theme for this year’s commemorations is “Calypso, Beyond Boundaries and Borders”.
Speaking on the Power Breakfast Show, Professor Watson said calypso has always been a means of editorial expression.
Professor Watson explained the link between calypso and politics.
