We have news this morning that Leroy Caliste aka the Black Stalin has passed away.
Calliste died early this morning.
He was a leading calypsonian known for his militant Rastafarian and black nationalist lyrics.
He won the Calypso Monarch competition on five occasions and the Calypso King of the World title in 1999. He was born on Coffee Street, the heart of San Fernando.
