Calvin Klein Selects Transgender Models as Part of New Campaign

American luxury fashion house synonymous with underwear shots, Calvin Klein has long been synonymous with jumpstarting the careers of the relatively known and beautiful.

For its 2020 limited edition Pride collection and campaign, the fashion house Calvin Klein featuring nine LGBT+ campaigners from around the world photographed by Ryan McGinley for #PROUDINMYCALVINS.

The stars who stripped down to their underwear for the Calvin Klein shoot were mega-famous Brazilian drag performer and pop-star Pabllo Vittar; deaf, Asian, transgender YouTuber Chella Man; gay and non-binary actor Tommy Dorfman; Black plus-size transgender model Jari Jones; and Persian lesbian pop singer Gia Woods.

Pabblo Vittar – who is arguably the most popular drag queen in the world, with twice as many Instagram followers as RuPaul, more than 1 billion views on YouTube, and a pair of heavily-streamed, bop-filled albums – told PAPER magazine about being in her first global fashion campaign for Pride month.

“It’s different because last year I just did so many concerts and met so many people who love me, who care about me and this year with quarantine, everybody is celebrating at home,” she said. “But don’t forget we will always be here like family, like a rainbow, you know, everybody has a colour.”

The Calvin Klein website contains the complete Pride collection, which features swimwear, a belt bag, boxers, and more.

The brand has also invested money into the queer community by sponsoring PFLAG National, an organization for family and friends of LGBTQ people; supporting Australia’s Equality Project, a national LGBTQ health organization and OutRight Action International’s COVID-19 LGBTQ Global Emergency Fund which offers emergency funds for LGBTQ organizations across the globe.
