Cabinet Appointed Task Force Submits Work Plan On Recommendations From The Justice Jones Report

The work plan for the implementation of recommendations contained in the Justice Judith Jones led Investigation Team on child abuse at Community Residences, Rehabilitation Centres and other Institutions, which provide Residential Care for Children has been completed and submitted by the cabinet appointed Inter-Agency Task Force.

Minister with Responsibility for Gender and Child Affairs, Ayanna Webster-Roy, said the IATF submitted the Work Plan to the Cabinet within the stipulated time frame of six weeks.

In a media release Friday afternoon, it was indicated the Cabinet will review the Work Plan and the related documents and determine the way forward on the proposals which have been made.

The Gender and Child Affairs Division commended the members of the Task Force for their diligence in completing their assignment within the given timeframe and to the commitment and passion displayed by all members.

It pointed out that the IATF reviewed the findings and recommendations of the Report; developed an Action Plan for implementation, divided into short, medium and long-term categories, with appropriate timeframes and submit to Cabinet the completed Work Plan in six weeks from the date of commencement of the meetings.

The Task Force identified priority actions to be taken in areas such as legislation guiding the safeguarding, care and protection of Children and Enforcing of Licensing and Monitoring requirements for Children’s Homes.
