Cabinet Allocates 140 Million Dollars To National Flood Relief Programme, Restorative Works

Cabinet takes a decision to immediately allocate 40 million dollars to the national flood relief programme.

This is confirmed by the Office of the Prime Minister.

The decision was taken following a cabinet meeting Thursday.

In a media release, the OPM said these funds are to augment existing budgetary allocations in relevant Ministries to provide sustenance and comfort for those directly distressed by the recent weather emergency.

An additional one hundred million dollar allocation has been made for urgent landslide and road reinstatement works nationwide.

Ten million dollars will also be made available to assist the farming community that has been adversely affected by the recent flooding.
