Businessman rescued by cops during robbery in POS Mall

A businessman is today thankful for the quick response of police, after he was tied up in his downtown Port of Spain cellphone store on Wednesday night.

Around 9:45pm, a patrolling unit of officers from the Port of Spain Task Force received a report of a robbery at Capital Plaza, Frederick Street.

On arrival, the officers saw the security gate of the building partly open and on further entry, saw three bandits at the GL Cellular Store and the owner tied up with cables.

When the officers announced their presences and told the suspects not to move, they tried to run away.

However, two policemen caught them and found $1,500 in cash on them..

The bandits, a 20-year-old and two 27-year-olds from Morvant, were arrested and are expected to be charged.
