Geneticist Dr Nicole Ramlachan says there may be a spike in COVID numbers over the next 2 months.
This news comes as Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley yesterday warned the nation that the mandatory masking will return if the health officials deem it necessary.
Speaking this morning on Power 102 Digital’s Power Breakfast Show, she said this is attributable to increased international travel.
She noted that this is being made even worse with the new Omicron variant Ba5 which is one of the most transmissible variants of COVID thus far.
Dr Rowley yesterday cited WHO advice which indicated a return to masks but said the COVID numbers will be observed before a decision is made.
Dr Ramlachan noted that regardless, people shouldn’t decide whether or not to wear a mask based on what is mandated.
