‘Boozie’ arrested and charged for shooting at police in Central

A Couva man is expected to appear virtually before a Couva Magistrate tomorrow, Monday 11th October, 2021, charged with three counts of shooting with intent at police officers attached to the Central Division.

Marlon Boodram, aka “Boozie”, 32, of McBean Village, also faces charges of possession of firearm, possession of ammunition, possession of firearm to endanger life and possession of ammunition to endanger life. He was additionally charged with possession of marijuana and ammunition, following the execution of a warrant at his home.
The accused is allegedly a suspect in a police-involved shooting incident which occurred in the Couva district, on Friday 24th September, 2021. During the incident, three officers attached to the Central Division Task Force, Area South, came under fire from gunmen who were travelling in a silver-coloured Isuzu pick-up.

The officers, in accordance with the Use of Force Policy, returned fire and gave chase, but the suspects eluded capture.
No officers were injured during the incident.

Investigations resulted in the arrest of the accused on Thursday 30th September, 2021, by officers of the Central Division Gang Unit (CDGU).

Boodram was charged with the offences by Sgt. Cielto of the CDGU, on Sunday 10th October, 2021.
