Blood Drive Collaboration Gets Support

The Ministry of Health says it looks forward to future collaborations with the Trinidad and Tobago Defense Force and other entities in the  Blood Drive Collaboration.

In March of 2022, the Ministry initiated the transition of the national blood donation system from a replacement donation (chit system) to one that is based on 100% Voluntary Non-Remunerated Blood Donation..

Arising out of discussions held earlier this year, the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force hosted a blood donation drive on December 18, 2023 at Teteron Barracks, Chaguaramas.

The blood drive held in conjunction with the TTDF, is one of several drives hosted this year which would aid in improving the country’s available blood supply as well as increase the number of voluntary blood donors.

A total of thirty-nine pints were collected.

Dr. Roshan Parasram, Chief Medical Officer and Captain (Naval) Anil Gosine, Chief Staff Officer, TTDF visited the donation site and commended the military personnel for their altruistic and heroic act of giving blood.
