Finance Minister Colm Imbert revealed that $3.5 billion a month or $42 billion a year is spent on this country’s expenditure.
Of that figure, $500 million a month or $6 billion a year is spent on direct subsidies, including State enterprises WASA and T&TEC.
Imbert made the announcement during his address at the Spotlight on the Budget forum.
He then provided information on the subsidies given to T&TEC, and other sectors, for example, transport and education.
