The Banking, Insurance and General Workers Union is asking Republic Bank to immediately withdraw the “Return to Work Policy” and resume discussions with the Union, in good faith.
In a media release Friday afternoon, the union said it is confident should the Bank resume good faith discussions with it, measures can be agreed which are in the interests of all stakeholders and which permits the Bank to ensure the safety of its employees and those to whom it provides its services.
It said should the Union not have the Bank’s positive response by 10 am on Monday it has instructed its attorneys to commence action to restrain the Bank from what it describes as its unilateral imposition of this policy.
It said litigation is a course the Union does not want to pursue but will do so if it is compelled to do so by the Bank’s intransigence.
