Bharath accepts Maharaj’s challenge; said he’s more than happy to debate matters of importance

Former UNC minister, Vasant Bharath, has accepted the challenge for a debate, which has been issued by Devant Maharaj, his opponent for the position of political leader of the United National Congress.

Maharaj issued the challenge on Tuesday and he explained this morning that a national debate among the candidates going up for the election, would be helpful and instructive in assisting the UNC membership with making up their minds.

Contacted by Power 102 this morning, Mr Bharath said that he is more than happy to debate matters of importance to the party.

He said “The reality is that there are very few functioning organs within the organisation and this has led to several defeats over the last ten years.”

Bharath said “The important thing here is that the party’s life is at stake and the members of the party need to have an opportunity to determine what the leaders or the potential leaders of the party would do in the future, to actually take it off the ventilator that it is currently on and resuscitate it, breathe life back into it and put it into the position to win and get back into government.”

He added “I am all for any debate or any discussion or any opines that need to be put forward for the development and the growth party.
