Bed, Bath & Beyond CEO died from an apparent suicide after falling from a Manhattan luxury skyscraper

A Bed Bath & Beyond executive died from an apparent suicide after falling from the downtown Manhattan luxury skyscraper where he lived.

According to New York’s medical examiner’s office, Gustavo Arnal, 52, the company’s chief financial officer, died from multiple blunt trauma injuries and took his own life, the medical examiner’s office said in a statement Sunday night.

Arnal’s death was reported days after the retail chain announced it would close about  150 of its 700 stores and lay off 20% of its 32,000 employees.

This after its stock fell more than 21 percent last Wednesday and 65 percent in the past year, according to The Associated Press.
