Beachgoers beware! Hazardous Seas Alert in effect

Today may not be the best day to head to beach based on a release from the T&T Met Service (TTMS).

The TTMS has issued a Yellow Level Hazardous Seas Alert, as it says strong winds are expected to agitate sea conditions.

The alert is for the period today, Sunday January 31st (and it began at 2am) to Tuesday February 2nd at 2pm.

Waves are expected to reach heights of between 2.5 meters and 3.0 meters in open waters.

A long period northerly swell event and ongoing spring tides are also expected to worsen sea conditions, especially at high tide and over Northern and sheltered coastal regions.
Persons in marine areas in the alert zone should exercise extreme caution in any sea-related activities.
